Hey there, I don’t really know about you, but I am Nigerian and I cannot imagine a party without samosa. Samosa is one pastry that brings small chops to life! Oh and just in case you have no idea what small chops is, it basically comprises of Nigerian snacks made into bite sizes which include spring rolls, puff puff, stick meat, chicken kebab and samosa.
Samosa is a deep fried or baked pastry with a savory filling such as spiced potatoes, onions, peas, beef and other lentils. It may take various forms including triangular or cone shapes.
Knowing how to make samosa is a game changer for anyone who loves the art of trying out new recipes. It definitely adds spice to your snack adventure and you don’t have to wait for a special occasion to eat this delicious snack.

INGREDIENTS FOR THE DOUGH;
- Vegetable oil
- Warm water
INGREDIENTS FOR THE FILLING;
- Irish potatoes
- Green peas
- Seasoning cubes
- Minced beef
- Spring onions
- Curry powder
- Vegetable oil
- Salt and ground pepper
- Garlic powder
HOW TO MAKE THE DOUGH?
So first, sieve the flour and salt together in a bowl. Add your vegetable oil mixing it with your fingers, working a handful of flour at a time. Now you have to keep mixing until all of the flour is coated with fat and the dough has begun to form. Remember to keep it a bit dry and flaky.
Mix the dough in water until the consistency is soft and pliable but not wet. You can add more water if you deem it necessary. HOW TO MAKE THE FILLING?
Wash and peel the Irish potatoes and carrots. You need to cut them into tiny bits and cook in salty water for about five minutes. Make sure you don’t forget to add the green peas to make sure all the vegetables are soft. Cut the spring onions into thin circles and set aside.
Heat up oil in a pot and add the spring onions, garlic powder, ground pepper, curry powder and stir-fry for a few seconds.
Add your minced beef. Now, you need to stir-fry the beef until it changes color from pink to a pale color. Add your seasoning cubes, ground pepper and salt to taste. Then go ahead to add your vegetables, mix thoroughly and leave to cool.

Shape your dough into a cone, take a spoonful of your filling and scoop it into the cone shaped dough. Do not over fill it, rub water on the edges and seal tightly.
