I remember how daunting it was the first time I got my contacts off, so that is why I am really excited about sharing tips with you on the proper steps to removing your contact lenses.

Before Removing Your Contact Lenses

You need to understand that when you are dealing with contact lenses, your hands need to be properly washed, thus the importance of washing your hands when removing your lens. Always wash your hands with soap and water. Always. Afterwards, be sure to wipe your hands dry.

Contact lenses are a big deal especially because contacts have a right and left side. To be sure you do not mix it up, i would advice you start with the same eye while wearing and removing your lens.

How to remove contact lenses

It is time to remove your contacts, and well, I know you are nervous but I promise, it is going to be great with more and more practice. So let’s do this;

  •  You can’t do this without a mirror guys, so please stand in front of a proper-lit mirror.
  •  Look upwards.
  • Take your non-dominant hand and use your index finger to raise your upper eyelid away from your eye.
  • Now, with your dominant hand, use your middle finger pull down your lower eyelid. Read this
  • With the pads of your index finger and thumb, gently squeeze the lens to pull it down and away from your eye. Do not fold or pinch with more force than necessary.
  • 6. Place the lens into the palm of your other hand.

Guess what? You’re done! You’re good to go! You did it. Bravo.
